THE VOKODER THE FIRST IN AFRICAN HISTORY

Ifechukwude Samuel is a Nigerian artiste popularly known by his stage name, THE VOKODER which is coined from the musical instrument Vocoder.
He hails from Nsukwa, Aniocha South LGA in Delta State, located in the Southern part of Nigeria. He was born into a family of seven to a clergy father and a mother who is a trained nurse and midwife. The Vokoder began his musical journey at a young age as a pianist in a church his father pastored at the time.
Since then, he has been supportive and actively involved in his father’s ministry using his gift of music. Asides playing the piano, The Vokoder helped to manage the church choir during which he organised several voice training lessons for them and that inspired his decision to set up a music academy called, Samuel Academy of Music (SAM).
He became the first voice coach ever from Africa to upload voice lessons on YouTube. Now he trains schools, choirs and individuals either physically or online. Following his success as a voice coach, The Vokoder officially unveiled his TalkBox career at a musical concert, Timeless Praize, on the 2nd of September, 2018 in the city of Port Harcourt, Nigeria Timeless Praize was the 1st Talkbox event ever in Africa.
Though he began to play vocoder professionally in January 2018 and started talkboxing in July the same year. With this, he became the very first TalkBox artiste emerging from Africa. His genre of music includes; soul, R&B, funk, hip-hop, Nigerian praise and worship, all in the form and style of the TalkBox. He derives his inspiration from the love of God, the gospel, and winning souls for the kingdom of God. Being the first voice coach from Africa to upload voice lessons on YouTube and also the first TalkBox artiste from Africa can be considered as historical achievements for The Vokoder.
It is also recorded that he is the first talkboxer to do a cover and TalkBox concert in Africa. Vokoder has performed on quite a number of platforms and has done a TalkBox version of the Nigerian National Anthem. Soon he would release the first TalkBox single from Africa title, “JESUS” from his debut album, “JESUS MUSIC”.
Even though the African continent is still adapting to TalkBox Music, he believes that TalkBox and vocoder movement can only get better.
